Wrapping Up Day Three at CTIA ENTERPRISE & APPLICATIONS
CTIA ENTERPRISE & APPLICATIONS™ 2011 is almost over, but it’s been a great show with fantastic weather in San Diego. Steve Largent, President & CEO of CTIA-The Wireless Association, started off today’s keynotes by introducing a new PSA for text4baby. Text4baby is a program that sends expecting and new mothers with health tips via text messages. Quentin Hardy, Deputy Technology Editor for The New York Times, then took the stage to introduce three innovators that have developed disruptive technologies that could change the mobile space. Cyriac Roeding, Co-Founder & CEO of shopkick Inc., spoke about the opportunity presented when mobile, social and shopping intersect. Shopkick is a service that rewards customers for foot traffic into stores since more foot traffic equals more sales. He was followed by Daniel Mattes, CEO of Jumio, who demonstrated his innovative debit or credit card reading app. He believes his technology is an “enabler” because it works together with payment services providers, credit card organizations and carriers. The keynotes were concluded with remarks by Eric Setton, Co-Founder & CTO of Tango, who predicted video calling will be as ubiquitous as voice calling. Thanks for following our coverage at the show.
