In response to the U.S. House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Emergency Preparedness approving the IPAWS Modernization Act (H.R. 3283), I said:
"We appreciate the Subcommittee's effort to modernize IPAWS while respecting and protecting the work that wireless carriers have put in to deliver Wireless Emergency Alerts.
“Since WEA debuted two years ago, the system has been used more than 9000 times to protect the public. We are pleased that the Subcommittee recognizes the value of the WEA program and applied the old maxim 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' in crafting the legislation it approved today.”
