The American Red Cross

Our daughter Sara is serving with the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps, a Peace Corps for the United States. Sara’s California-based team was sent to New York to assist in Superstorm Sandy recovery efforts. This week, her team is in Breezy Point, the Long Island neighborhood that suffered not only flood and wind, but also a fire.

Here’s the picture she sent us.

The American Red Cross provides relief to victims of disasters, ranging from storms like Sandy down to a single house fire. Of every dollar the Red Cross collects, 91 cents goes to humanitarian relief efforts, which is why I nominated them.

Text "REDCROSS" to 90999 to give $10.
