It’s been a great day at CTIA ENTERPRISE & APPLICATIONS™ 2011! Our keynote speakers were great (as always). Steve Largent, President and CEO of CTIA, announced the results latest Semi-Annual Survey on Wireless Trends including the historic 102.4 percent wireless penetration rate. He also announced the release of the CTIA & BSR reportWireless and the Environment: A Review of Opportunities and Challengeswhich details the environmental impact of wireless on four sectors: transport, utilities, agriculture and public sector.

He was followed by Dan Hesse, CEO of Sprint Nextel Corporation and Chairman of CTIA’s Board of Directors, who spoke about CTIA’s main priorities for 2011: safe driving and wireless sustainability. He also discussed wireless’ transformational role in other sectors, including healthcare and transportation.

Ralph de la Vega, President and CEO of AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets, then took the stage to talk about the importance of innovation and collaboration to bring the latest generation of wireless devices and services to market.

Dan Mead, President and CEO of Verizon Wireless, concluded the keynotes by discussing the importance of the machine-to-machine (M2M) space and the emerging M2M market.

We also announced the 2012 CTIA Board of Directors election that followed today’s Board meeting.
