CTIA Announces Jamie Hastings as Vice President of External and State Affairs Department

This morning, I was pleased to announce that Jamie Hastings will be joining CTIA on September 6 as our vice president of external and state affairs. She will be responsible for advocating on policy issues for the U.S. wireless industry before all levels of state government, including public service commissions, state legislatures, governors and state attorneys general. Hastings will also analyze state legislation and regulatory proposals to ensure market-driven policies continue to reflect the ever-changing and innovative U.S. wireless industry, and engage numerous third-party organizations on a variety of topics.

As I said in the release, "Jamie’s extensive wireless industry knowledge and her state and local policy experience are a perfect combination, and we are extremely pleased that she will be joining our team. Jamie has an outstanding reputation of being an effective advocate for the industry. I look forward to working with her on a variety of matters, ranging from stopping the discriminatory taxes and fees on wireless consumers’ bills, educating policymakers about online privacy, expanding mobile broadband access for all and encouraging young people to use their wireless devices responsibly."

Hastings spent the past 11 years working for T-Mobile USA, most recently as its vice president of state legislative affairs. She previously worked at Omnipoint Communications, Inc, where she was the director and senior counsel in the legal and regulatory affairs department. She served as the director of government relations and government operations for the County of Westchester. Hastings was also the corporation counsel for the City of Yonkers, New York. She earned a Juris Doctor from Union University Albany Law School and graduated from Fordham University with a bachelor of arts in English. Hastings also has a certificate from the JFK School of Government at Harvard University.
