At the center of Campus Party is the network core, also known as the “UFO.” This is the heart of the event, as all campus participants demand maximum bandwidth. From the core, cables stretch out in every direction feeding the need for speed. Yesterday we lost power in the building, which meant no lights, but the campus was illuminated by the glow of thousands of terminals—because the “UFO” never faltered.
Innovation and crowd sourcing are clearly the priority at Campus Party—24/7. Sleeping and bathing doesn't seem to rank high on the to-do list for party-goers. When debating between showering in a convention center or meeting industry icons, the general consensus is, “I would rather talk about quantum computing with Vint Cerf!”
Here's a photo of me (on the right) chatting with him for a few minutes after his keynote address yesterday.
