CTIA announced Base 2 Applications and Yobble as winners of its sponsored prize categories at Wireless Industry Partnership’s (WIP) The Muther! of All Hackathons, a 36-hour, non-stop competition to build the industry’s hottest new mobile apps. Winners were announced shortly after an intense round of live judging on Saturday, June 25th at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California.
Base 2 competed against other developers in the challenge to create a prototype application that could be used in conjunction with CTIA’s industry trade shows. The company distinguished its submission with a number of offerings, including an advanced event-floor social networking feature; quick-response (QR) coding for instant, on-the-fly information about an attendee or exhibit; a viral shake-for-prizes feature; and a customizable charity fundraising backend.
Base 2 won a prize package from CTIA Shows worth more than $25,000, including a booth, ad space in the show guide, VIP passes, a Buzz Zone interview and free entry into show awards programs for the upcoming CTIA trade show of their choice. If CTIA decides to use Base 2’s solution, the organization will officially promote the developers along with the app itself at CTIA’s two signature events, CTIA Enterprise & Applications™ 2011 and International CTIA WIRELESS® 2012.
