Green Month Wrap-Up; May to Focus on Responsible Wireless Use

Throughout the month of April, we have been posting various videos, podcasts and updates on our blog about the wireless industry’s contributions and commitment to creating a low-carbon economy. From industry-wide environmental and recycling initiatives, to specific efforts by wireless companies to implement energy-conscious measures into their operations and business practices, the industry recognizes its responsibility to our environment for the health of the planet and future generations.

In addition to learning more about some of the wireless industry’s eco-friendly efforts, “green month” was a great opportunity for all of us to re-evaluate our environmental impact – whether as individuals or part of a business – and identify steps we can take to reduce our carbon footprints. As “green month” comes to a close, we look forward to continuing the conversation and working with all interested parties on green initiatives to protect and positively affect the environment.

But now that April is nearly complete, we are going to be focused on the important issue of responsible wireless use in May. Starting Monday, our blog will feature informative videos, podcasts and updates that highlight what the wireless industry is doing to help protect and empower America’s next generation of wireless users.

Today’s children are a technology savvy generation who adopt digital and mobile technologies at a spectacularly fast rate. Thus, it’s absolutely essential to educate and equip parents and teachers with tools and resources to help kids make safe and responsible choices when using their wireless devices and services.

There are many benefits to children using mobile technology, such as mLearning solutions and educational “apps”. Still, some kids might use mobile devices and services in an inappropriate or irresponsible manner.

In light of the challenges of protecting children in open online and mobile environments, the wireless industry continues to respond with effective, innovative solutions that give parents choice and control over the mobile content and services their children are using more and more.

Keep visiting our blog this month for updates and information on responsible wireless use and child safety!
